Mahaska County Hospital, Oskaloosa
The addition to the emergency room is one floor slab on grade, approximately 8,700 square feet. The new medical office includes a basement plus two floors, approximately 17,000 square feet each. The exterior walls for both additions are CMU and brick veneer. The structure is made up of block bearing walls and structural steel and bar joists. The foundations of both buildings are 20-feet deep caissons. Both additions were connected to the existing hospital, which made this project very challenging.
